Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitar player and music artist. She was the first woman in her age group to receive an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shakar, who is just a rising superstar on the Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She's a child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in London She spent her early years of her life traveling between London as well as New Delhi. When she was 13 she performed her first show at New Delhi. Then, in Encinitas CA she attended high school and graduated with distinction in 1999. Anouskha, who is only an teen, has enjoyed an extremely successful recording and performing career. She performs regularly with her dad and has done so for a long time years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years following her debut solo album. Apart from performing in every major venue as well, she is a stage performer for a lengthy time. Anoushka Shankar's career is not limited to performing in music. Bapi: The Love of My Live is her 2002 novel, and is a tribute to Ravi Shankar. Also, she appeared in film in 2003. Anoushka was born in England, but spent most of her growing up split between London in the UK and Delhi. Then she moved to California and attended high school. Anoushka Shankar began her musical studies when she was nine. A few years later she performed her sitar debut in Delhi during her father's 75th birthday party. Alongside her father, they toured around the globe, Anoushka had a wealth of performances at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens, performing in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and performing together with George Harrison. She was the first woman to win the House of Commons Shield, awarded by British Parliament to recognize her musical talent and artistic ability in music and the Asian Arts.
